Play By Ear Rhythm 1: How to Figure out the Rhythm of a Song? Is it in 3/4 or 4/4 Time?
We all love to listen to music. When we listen to a song, we tune into the rhythm more than anything else. Most people don’t catch or don’t care about the occasional bad note or chord. But if the rhythm goes off in a performance, it’s the first thing the audience will notice.
Rhythm is an essential element in all music. You can mix together any sounds you want, but if there is no underlying rhythm to the sounds, there is no music.
Welcome to this course on "How to Figure out the rhythm of a song? I’m so happy you’re here. You might be wondering, is this the right course for me?
I designed this course for anyone who wants to play by ear and they want to figure out whether the song is written in 3/4 time or 4/4 time.
When you play your song, whether on a piano, guitar, or ukulele, you want to make sure you play your songs in the Right rhythm.
Songs have different time signature. Most songs are written with these 2 time signature. 3/4 or 4/4 Time.
It seems very obvious, isn't it?
But you will be so surprised that when it comes to music, most people do not know how to count. This is why I created this course for you The frustration many people face is that they can't tell whether the songs they play are written in 3/4 time or 4/4 time.
Let me tell you, it takes time to learn Rhythm. No pun intended.
In this course, you are going to concentrate on learning songs written in 3/4 and 4/4 Time.
By the end of the course, you are going to able to tell the difference between songs that are written in 3/4 & 4/4 time without a shadow of doubt.
You must understand rhythm and how to 'count the beat' in songs. This is how you make progress. From there you will be able to play the simplest songs to the most complex pieces.
The more complex pieces of movie songs or standards are written in 2/4 time, 6/8 time, 9/8, 12/8 time. But you know what? They are all built on the principles of the timing in 3/4 and 4/4.

Over the years, she has gone on church missions to Mongolia, Sydney, Nepal, India and expedition trips to the Holy Lands: Israel, Greece and Turkey. Wherever she went, she found herself taking up the music ministry and became the church pianist for that church.
Many people at church have asked her to teach them to play piano. As a result of her passion in playing piano, she started developing piano courses initially for church pianists online since 2008. The CCI method works for all types of music: Gospel, Pop and Standards.
This Piano Method is easy, fun and creative that you learn to play piano not only from music score sheets, but to play chords from fake books and eventually to play by ear. The Dreamy Piano Techniques courses, especially the one on Autumn Leaves is her students favorite. She has a piano website at Learn Piano With Rosa where she continues to offer new courses to her students. She also holds piano workshops for her local students and train church pianists.
